OMAX is committed to producing Precision Abrasive Waterjet Systems. We have over 100 man years in knowledge at OMAX. We are always updating, upgrading our software and hardware, and we do not create our products to become obsolete instead we create them so you can upgrade and update them.
The Past
1993
- Dr. Olsen and Dr. Cheung founded OMAX. Dr. Olsen was committed to developing an abrasive waterjet system that could be placed in a machine shop with other machine tools. He saw it as a versatile machine tool that is easy to operate, maintain and update.
- OMAX first introduced an Abrasivejet Machining Center specifically for the general machine shop environment.
- OMAX worked in tandem with professor Alex Slocum at MIT to develop an open cantilever structure with high precision.
- OMAX led the industry by developing the first PC-controller with built in abrasivejet model.
- OMAX Model 2448 introduced
- OMAX led the industry with the very first controller developed specifically for abrasivejet machining.
1994
- OMAX Model 2652 2652 introduced.
- Started selling through distribution channels
1995
- Patent granted for Machine Tool Apparatus and Linear Motion for the Machine Tool.
- Machine tool apparatus and linear motion track: 5,472,367
OMAX started exhibiting at trade shows—at WESTEC
1996
- Patent granted for Motion Control with Precomputation.
